Terence Davis Will Be On a Court Come the Start of the NBA Season, Just Not the Right One.

The start date of the 2020-2021 NBA season has been a huge topic of speculation in the NBA community. The NBA would prefer to not hold the season in another bubble considering that they lost 1.5 billion dollars due to the absence of revenue from selling out stadiums. Due to this reasoning, the NBA was expected to start the season around march of 2021. However, due to recent advancements in COVID-19 research suggesting that a vaccination is not coming anytime soon, the NBA made a radical shift in their approach and decided to start the season as early as possible to capitalize on the TV revenue. According to multiple reports, the NBA plans to start the season on December 22nd, with a 72 games season in mind. This swift turnaround resulted in an expected outroar by the players, with players like Danny Green stating that " if the season was to start before Christmas, he would expect players like LeBron to miss at least the first month of the season." Despite this uncertainty, we know one player who will be on the court come this holiday season, unfortunately for him it will be the wrong type of the court.

Toronto Raptors guard, Terence Davis, was arrested in New York City after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend on Tuesday morning. The NYPD state that the woman was reportedly visiting Davis in his hotel room in central Manhattan, where they got into a heated verbal dispute, which resulted in Davis slapping the women and breaking her phone. Apparently, the woman's son was also harmed in the altercation.

The NYPD later told reporters that the 23 year-old Davis will face seven charges. The charges include two counts of third-degree assault, one count of attempted assault in the third degree, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

The Raptors decided to sign the 23 year-old undrafted guard out of Ole Miss, following an impressive performance in the Las Vegas Summer League for the Denver Nuggets. Davis proved to be a pleasant surprise for the organization in his rookie season, a season which saw him earn a consistent spot in coach Nick Nurse's rotation and earn All-Rookie second team honors.

Davis averaged a modest 7.5 points in 72 regular-season games for the Raptors as a rookie last season and then 7.2 points over six appearances during Toronto's postseason run in the NBA Bubble. However, Raptors fans had much higher hopes for the 23 year-old, due to his flashes of gifted athleticism and red-hot shooting.

It is important to note that Davis's defense lawyer, Greg Esposito, has denied all accusations. But it appears that more likely than not, Terence Davis's promising NBA career will be over before it really started.
